While reading my required reading I happend upon an interesting idea which has been debated often but this place needs some revival so I thought I'd bring it up..
What leads a person to commit a crime? (murder, robbery, etc) Is it the environment of which they grew up? Or do they just think they are better than everyone else and they wish to do something to better the world and if necessary they would commit a crime, numerous crimes even?
What makes a person become a criminal? what do you think?

Well that book that I read about those girls that murdered that other girl...The girl who basically lead them to do it was raised by a very disfuntional family.... Her and her sisters where molested by her father and her father was very hostile and strange... He often threatened people and actually tried to shoot one of the girls at one time... So I guess it shows where she got it from which is no excuse but...I mean..you know?
And the other girl that did a lot of the killing was just crazy...She belonged to a cult and stuff and she tried to make people think she was possessed and didn't know what she was doing.
Some people do it just to do it....Maybe for the adreniline rush and other people do it just for the power.

I believe that sure, society has something to do with it. With all the guns and violence in games, children become accustomed to it, therefore, some actually start to believe that 'hey, if it's in the game and in everyday life, not to mention movies and shit, then it must not be such a big deal.' It sounds odd, but yes, many end up thinking like that.
Childhood also plays a big part in this, because if they grow up with violence all the time, then that's all they know. They don't know what it feels like to be loved and cared for. When they grow up, they may become jealous, thus leading to killing someone who has something better than them. They may also want something and the only way they know how to do it is with violence. Studies do show if someone grows up with violent/abusive parents, the child then has a greater chance of also being abusive/violent in everyday life..
There are many reasons when someone to commit a crime..
